You have to have been at your current address for 3 years and you must be on the electoral roll. The debit card has nothing to do with a credit card, if you want to build your credit scoring you need to get a credit card to raise your scoring level, you will get one from Vanquis or Capital One but I would not recommend Capital One and both of them have high interest and only give you a limit of £250 but it help get you on the ladder. Try Barclaycard or Virgin Credit Card.

  • to get a higher credit rating you have to have a record of credit, so if you have had credit cards in the past and they are clean, then you credit rating goes up.
if you have not used credit it is as bad as having defaults on you record.
  • You have to credit history so request for credit card is declined.
Your debit card is just that it debits money from your checking account. No money in checking account then debit is declined
