YES you can. I have a Mint Credit card, that has NOTHING to do with my bank account and you don't need a bank account to pay for the credit card either. You can pay them by going into the post office with the payment slip.
It is probably best if you open up a bank account now anyway as you will need that to be paid from work or anything else so do that now, but you can have a credit card with anyone you want and doesn't have to be with your bank or even linked!

- Uk answer: Theoretically you can apply for a credit card and be approved, however you are unlikely to be approved by a "mainstream" card at this stage - all want to take details of your primary bank account when you apply and not having that will affect the credit score they calculate for the application. That said, you may still be accepted by someone like Vanquis - http://redo.me.uk/vanquis
Whether you are accepted for a credit card will also depend on your regular income. Where do you have your wages/salary paid to at the moment if not a bank account?
Your best approach would be to go to a high street bank and open a bank account. This would do more to establish your credit than opening a credit card account. - A credit card is a card issued by a bank, retailer or consumer store, which allows purchase of goods and services on credit for a specific limit, interest rate and time period. There are a variety of credit cards to choose from, depending on the requirements of the person. You can apply for a credit card online, through paper application or by phone.
- Anyone can pay for a credit card in your name. I recently got my first credit card i just have to pick it up. I have two bank accounts though, and i still wasn't pre-approved i had a decent amount of cash in them too. Im building my credit rating too and my dad will pay for mine as long as i dont spend over x dollars a month
- You are probably going about this the wrong way round. if you want to build your credit rating open a bank account - cheque if possible then after 6 months open a credit card with that bank. that will get you started
- You can apply, but you will be denied, and will not build your score, and applying will hurt whatever score you might have in the future.
- If you're old enough to have a credit card, you're old enough to open a bank account.
- you should probably open a bank account while your applying for your credit card, thats the best solution.
- You typically do not need a bank account, but I highly doubt you are going to be approved for a credit card.
- Well your dad can apply for a card in your name as a second card for him.
- oh yeah tht shudnt be a problem, aslong as there is a debit account to withdraw the funds from
- Yes you can
- No
