CAN YOU USE A VISA DEBIT Card in spain?
Ok, Im going to spain in three weeks time and i have a VISA DEBIT CARD HSBC, Can i use this card in spain???

Yes you can, but be careful !
- The vast majority of Banks charge between 1.5 - 2% of the withdrawal / Purchase for a "Cash Handling Fee" and then a further 1.75 - 2.5% as a "Currency Transaction Fee" .... when you factor in the fact that the exchange rate that you are offered for small withdrawals, you will appreciate that it can be quite costly.
- As of TODAY Banco Santander ( who own Abbey, Alliance & leicester and Bradford & Bingley Banks in the UK ) , are scrapping ALL ATM charges in Spain - so why not go and open an account with them before you come over ?
- Read this article , print it, and take it into your nearest branch to apply for an account - http://www.tumbit.com/news/articles/900-…

- Yes you can. Look out for the VISA logos if you are unsure, but most places taking chip and pin will accept no problem. There may be an Overseas Usage Fee which could be anything up to 3% so I would check with HSBC first.

0% 0 Votes - Yep as long as it has maestro on it (usually on the back) then you'll be fine. Be careful though, HSBC charge for using your card abroad.
