How can I know my credit rating & history?

Resolved Question

How can I know my credit rating & history?

I would like to know my credit history online. Which site is safe to see this with accurate information?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

All Americans are entitled to one free credit report within a 12-month period from each of the three agencies. You can visit www.annualcreditreport.com, where you can get their free credit report, but not their credit scores. Credit scores are available as an add-on feature of the report, for a fee. This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

  • I use Experian. You can view what people see about you when you make an application for loans, credit cards etc. For £6.99 you can also view your credit score. I use this site as it is easy and straightforward. If there is anything on your file that you don't agree with then you can call them and get it sorted. You can also use Equifax but I personally prefer Experian.

Credit card payments, how much will I have to pay back.?

Resolved Question

Credit card payments, how much will I have to pay back.?

I have just took out £1000, on my credit card. I would like to know how much interest I will have to pay. I'm planning to put £100 pounds a week back in. There was an 4% handling fee, which I know is £40. My interest rate on my card is 21.9%. Can you please help?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Don't bother paying £100 a week, it won't make the interest any less. Pay £400 or whatever a month until you paid it off. Interest is calculated on a daily basis from the day you make the withdrawal and you will be charged interest on the handling fee, until the advance is paid off. If you continue to use the card for other purchases, then any repayments you make will be allocated to them first and to repaying the cash advance after. Can't help with the calculation of the interest; those calculations are beyond me

  • Roughly 33 pounds so together with the "handling" you're paying 73 pounds to borrow 1000 for 10 weeks...that';s an annualized interest rate of roughly 35%!

The above assumes that you charge nothing else on the card.

Think twice and then think twice again before repeating this transaction!

Can I reclaim a deposit made by credit card on any retail items if I do not have a written contract with the s?

Can I reclaim a deposit made by credit card on any retail items if I do not have a written contract with the s?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

If they went bankrupt & failed to deliver, and the (total) cost is over £100, then YES ...

If you simply changed your mind, well, it rather depends what the item was .. for example, if it's a package tour (holiday) not only will your loose your deposit but they may come after you for the rest of the costs as well ..

In the hotel industry (for example) I believe they can only keep your deposit if they are unable to let 'your' room to another customer ... (if 'your' room is non-specific, then that would mean they would need to be fully booked before 'your' room is resold) ..

Why can't I register my Visa Debit Card with Paypal?

Resolved Question

Why can't I register my Visa Debit Card with Paypal?

Hey guys, any help would be greatly appreciated.

My problem is this:

I created a Paypal account to be used with eBay. I registered my bank account and verified the Paypal account but everytime I tried to connect my Visa Debit card, it said this card wasn't supported for some reason.

I currently have to pay by eCheque which takes 7-9 days to clear but I need a more immediate method of payment.

I tried to purchase a PC from an eBay seller, but when I was asked to log into Paypal and got to the Payment stage, it again asked me to verify my address by entering Debit/Credit card details ...which I did and it turned me down again.

I can't make such purchases without finding out why I can't use my card =(

Oh, and if anyone else knows why a pound disappeared out of my current account after trying to buy the PC then that'd help too. A pount isn't much but I'm curious as I don't want it happening again with a larger sum of money.

Thanks =)

Ebay will charge you about a pound when you open your paypal account which will be put back in your account once you verify it; they did they same with me, I suppose it is a security measure to make sure there is an account with enough funds in it.
I have tried linking a VISA card myself and it would not get accepted. When after multiple attempts, I asked my bank, they said that the card was not to be used for Internet purchases. I guess you can tell them to make it Internet usable or you could get another VISA issued, this time especially for Internet purchases. I might not be the expert on this one but at any case, check with your bank.

In the mean time, can you not use another card to make your purchases? It might save some frustration on your part. Hope this helps. :)

  • I checked and you can use debit cards. See the link below.

Consider linking your bank account, directly. The debt card is one more layer between paypal and your money.

If all else fails, contact Paypal directly.

  • I have both a Visa Electron card and a Visa debit card and both work fine on paypal and ebay. Never had a problem using them!
So don't know why yours won't?

I would call paypal and ask them what to do, I have found them so helpful whenever I have had a problem or query.

How can i cheat on my credit rating?

Resolved Question

How can i cheat on my credit rating?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

You can't cheat on your credit rating and it's useless even trying. The only person you'll fool by cheating is yourself. Employers and creditors will see right through your lies and you will have gained nothing by being dishonest.

  • you cant cheat, but you can make it easier, by putting cheaper things on credit like a watch or something, then after awile your credit will look a little better.
  • You can't. Perhaps you should consider a different approach such as improving the rating with regular payments like the rest of us do.
  • I am still trying to figure Just how you have or rather what place gave you credit if this is representation of your intelligence.
  • Just insert your cheat code before you put into your social security number.
  • You can't!
  • Carry on lying as usual.
  • That's not even logical.

Your credit score makes getting qualified for the card easier...

but the credit limit is usually tied to your income...

Make a lot and they give you a high limit.

  • Try Nordstorm they used to be generous with the credit limits but who knows now, after the big crunch many banks are cutting back the limits.

I tuck an offer from chase for a balance transfer last week and I had to return the card, they gave me a 2,500 CL with 786 FICO score, I'm gonna pay them all as soon as I can an wait for the crisis to pass

If you have a min. wage job then you can expect only a minimal credit limit.
  • Credit scores top out at 820. Every card issuer is different and so is each application.

I want a credit card which i can take out cash amount out?

Resolved Question

I want a credit card which i can take out cash amount out?

any one know the best card for me to have ,, its my 1st card and i have good credit but dont want fees every month any ideas
im going to take 1000 out and pay it back with in 6 months

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

All credit cards that I have ever had have allowed cash advances. In addition to what the other person said: they typically have a fee in addition to the interest for using this service, interest starts on day 1 where as with most credit cards the purchase is interest free for 1 month (a month to a credit card is often 25 days), and the interest is higher than the credit cards normal rate.

You would be a lot better off, doing something extra to make the money and waiting until you can pay cash.

  • If you do not have a credit card yet, you cannot have a good credit rating. Credit has to be earned and demonstrated by making payments on time, using credit responsibly, etc.

In the world of credit cards, a cash advance is an option cardholders can use to borrow actual currency against their current balances. For most credit card users, the amount of cash available for a cash advance is a small percentage of their overall credit limit. Statements issued by the bank will generally provide two sets of numbers: the credit limit and the cash advance limit. You currently have no credit. You are not likely to get a credit card with a large credit line.

Using a cash advance option can prove to be expensive, so it's always best to explore other payment methods before incurring more debt. Any money gained through a cash advance will be added to the balance owed to the bank, which includes interest payments and other finance charges. Interest on some unsecured credit cards can reach 23% at times, which can quickly swallow up any benefits of a cash advance. This is why consumers should only borrow enough cash to resolve their financial obligation and make a sincere effort to pay back any cash advance quickly.

Many consumers are unaware that every time they use their credit cards to withdraw cash, extra fees kick in:

Cash advances carry an upfront fee of 2 percent to 4 percent of the amount advanced.

They have a higher interest rate than regular card charges.

They carry no grace period; interest charges begin to mount as soon as the money spits out of the ATM.

Many issuers also require you to pay down the balances for purchases before you pay down the higher-interest cash advance balance.

"Using cash advances is like borrowing money when you can't afford it," says Steve Rhode, president and co-founder of Myvesta.org, a nonprofit group providing help for difficult financial problems. "You're setting yourself up for failure. It's convenient, and people don't care about the fees associated with it."

The fees and charges applied to cash advances are not hidden fees. By law, card issuers are required to disclose information about fees and charges associated with all of their services. This information is typically displayed on the back of the solicitation form and on the monthly statements.

  • That's called a cash advance. The interest rate is very, very high. The credit card companies have put the mob out of work.
