Resolved Question

Can i remove Default from 2005 from my credit record.?

My girlfriend set up a next account in my name in 2004 and defaulted without my knowledge, as soon as i found out i paid off the £424 (nov 2005).
This is affecting my credit score badly!
Is there any way to remove it?

you can contact the credit reporting agencies like equifax and report the item in error with comment and it should be cleared. default time line for it is like 7 years after i think.

  • You may be able to put a notice on your credit record, get credit reports from all 3 credit agencies, Experian, Equifax & Callcredit - you can download forms from their sites & send with a £2 fee for a report - these will also detail what you can do regarding errors or putting notices of explanation on your reports. Information cannot be removed for 6 years so it will remain until 2011 but you may be able to reduce damage from this.
