Need Advice Please - credit card problems?

Hi, i have a credit card with Vanquis, and have recently found it difficult to keep up with my payments. No sooner do i pay what they ask, they charge me intrest which takes me over my limit, and then charge me for going over my limit. They have called me 27 times this week, (been counting), wanting yet another payment. I cant affort to pay them what they are asking, can someone give me some advice as to what i can say to them to get them off my back for a bit?. They have even called me at work - i diddnt give them my number they found it out somehow - and told the person who answered (not me) that they were calling from Vanquis bank!!. Its all getting on top of me so any advice would be appreciated!!

I did a quick search and found a website with reviews about Vanquis credit card. The general consensus was to avoid this company like the plague. You need to do something about your financial situation. The fact that they called you 27 times this week is very disturbing. Is it possible to get help from your family? Vanquis will not get off your back unless you can make a payment.

You cannot ignore this. If you fail to work out a payment plan with Vanquis they can take you to court and get a judgement to garnish your wages.

You should stop using your Vanquis credit card for purchases. You should not get a payday loan because the interest rate is extremely high and will only make your situation worse. You may want to seek credit counselling.

  • Speak to them and tell them the problems you are having and maybe they can work with you. You are probably making the minimum payment on a maxed out credit card and thats why the interest is putting you over your limit. You have to try to make more than the minimum. Figure out what the interest is each month and pay that as well as the minimum payment. Once you get on your feet pay as much as possible until its paid off.
  • Try actually talking to them and working out a payment plan. Cut back on all extravagances (cable, cell phone plan, going out, eating out, entertainment, shopping,....). If it's really bad and you have other credit issues try contacting Consumer Credit Counseling, they will work out a plan with your creditors (you have to cut all your credit cards). Good luck.
