How to claim money from Ebay through the courts in UK?

Resolved Question

How to claim money from Ebay through the courts in UK?

Ebay have a registered address in Luxemburg
I want to claim £2500 from them, I live in the UK
Is it same process to send summons to a UK address as it is to an EU address ?
Does Ebay have a address in the UK ? I have checked the addresses given in yahoo answers for Ebay in UK all are incorrect.
Has anyone been successful in making a claim against Ebay ?
Is there another way to approach this matter of trying to claim back my money ? I don't get responses to my emails or letters to them.

It's not worth taking Ebay to court, it would cost you far more then £2500 to get you a decent enough lawyer for you to even be within a chance of winning. Ebay is too large and powerful for one single person to take them to court for such a small amount in terms of court cases. You don't state why it is you think you have any case against Ebay? If it's a problem over a buyer/seller that you feel Ebay didn't deal fairly with, you don't have a chance. I wouldn't waste your time, money or the courts trying to win this battle!

  • If eBay/Paypal have forced you to refund; your Buyer is now in Illegal possession of your goods.
Threaten (and mean it) to take them (the Buyer) to Small Claims Court until they return to you.
Moneyclaim online will cost £30 to set the wheels in motion.

In the meantime mention to eBay/Paypal that you will inform the FOB (Financial Ombudsman) This will set eBay back £350 once you start this.
Paypal can sometimes relent (depending on the circumstances of your case/claim) and have been known to refund. Pursue them relentlesly

  • Going to court/using lawyers on an international case will bankrupt you.
you will burn up more than £2500 by lawyers fees before you get anywhere.
They are slow to reply, if you feel that strongly a personal visit to their London office would be better first!
