It is a Bank.

Previously known as The Halifax Building Society, Halifax bank was formed in 1853 in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Halifax plc is part of the HBOS Group. The Halifax bank is the UKs largest provider of residential mortgages and saving accounts. Products offered online include Current Accounts, Credit Cards, Insurance, Investments, ISAs, Loans, Mortgages, Savings, Pensions and Share Dealing.

  • Halifax is now part of Llyods Bank PLC.

    Halifax started as a mutual building society, became a bank then merged with Bank of Scotland. It was taken over by Lloyds after Bank of Scotlands American interests collapsed.
